Saloni Aswani was born in Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra, India.She belongs to a family of Sinti and her real name is Vandana Aswani. Her mother Naina Aswani wanted to become an actress and her father was an employee of Customs.She stayed with the family quarters at the CGS in Mumbai.
Saloni has a degree in psychology from SNDT, Mumbai. Later, Ashok Kumar joined Acting School, Mumbai. She was also part of a theater called Kala Sansad.
